The Payne County Sheriff’s Office is home to 2 trained police K-9 Andy and Rudy.
Breed: Belgian Malinois (Mal-in-wa), they were raised in Poland and came to the United States when they were a year and half old. While in Poland they were taught obedience and apprehension (bite) work. Once in the United States they continued obedience and apprehension work at Mid Michigan Kennals.
In 2011 Andy was paired with Sgt. Fox and Rudy was paired with Deputy Brown. The pairs then had to complete a five week training course together before returning to the Sheriff’s Office to work.
Sgt. Fox and Andy along with Deputy Brown and Rudy are certified through the International Police Working Dog Association and the Council for Law Enforcement and Training in Oklahoma.
The handlers and their K-9’s can be seen at various events through out Payne County.
